RetireCrunch is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle information when you use our website.
Information We Collect
RetireCrunch does not require an account and never asks for your name, email, or any identifying detail. What leaves your device differs by tool, so here it is precisely: the Wealth Plan and the Portfolio Rebalancer run entirely in your browser and store their data in local storage only; the FIRE and Coast FIRE calculators send your inputs (expenses, savings, age, horizon, inflation, portfolio profile) to our API to run the projection and Monte Carlo simulation; the Rebalancer sends ticker symbols and currency codes when you ask it to fetch live prices — never quantities, cost bases, or cash balances. Nothing is written to a database and nothing is linked to you.
Cookies
We use a language preference cookie to remember your selected language across visits. This cookie contains no personal information. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking cookies for marketing purposes.
API Requests and Retention
Requests to /api/calculate (FIRE and Coast FIRE projections) and /api/quotes (live prices) are processed in memory and answered immediately. The request body is never written to a database or a log file. Our hosting platform records a standard access log line — timestamp, HTTP method, path, status code, and IP address — which is retained for 30 days and then deleted automatically. Symbol lists are sent in the POST body specifically so they stay out of that log. There is no other retention.
Analytics
Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-9HDBJ2W5ZH) loads only after you accept it in the banner shown on your first visit. Decline, or simply ignore the banner, and no request is ever made to googletagmanager.com or google-analytics.com. If you accept, the events we send are: page views, language and region selections, form-start (when you focus a field), calculate (with the currency code, retirement years, and which portfolio profile you picked — never the amounts), and scroll depth, with IP anonymisation on and advertising signals off. Your monetary inputs and calculated results are never sent. To change your mind, clear this site's data in your browser and the banner will reappear.
Third-Party Services
Our website and API are hosted on Google Cloud Platform. Web fonts and the ToolPilot badge are served from our own domain rather than a third-party CDN, so loading a page contacts no host other than ours. Live prices and exchange rates are retrieved server-side from Yahoo Finance; your browser never talks to them directly. We do not sell, rent, or share any user data with third parties for marketing purposes.
